Fire Safety Industry Approved Training Course

The Fire Safety Training Course aims to increase awareness of fire hazards in the workplace and provide guidance on how to respond safely in case of a fire emergency. This includes instruction on selecting and using the appropriate fire extinguisher. The course also covers staff fire safety procedures.

Course Content:

  • Understanding the chemistry of fire

  • Identifying workplace fire hazards

  • Following evacuation procedures

  • Activating the fire alarm

  • Selecting and using the correct fire extinguisher or fire blanket in a fire emergency only if it is safe to do so on an undeveloped fire.

  • Overview of fire safety legislation

  • Understanding fire development and spread

  • Action to take in the event of a fire

  • Notifying the fire brigade

  • Responding to the fire alarm

  • Evacuation procedures

 

The course includes both theoretical instruction and practical demonstrations of using foam and CO2 fire extinguishers.

Course Duration:

3 Hours. Training can be conducted on-site and is suitable for all employees, regardless of industry.

Assessment:

Evaluation is done through a multiple-choice test and practical demonstration using fire extinguishers.

 

Refresher Training & Certification Validity Period:

Refresher training is recommended every 3 years.

 

Additional Information:

Course participants will receive notes on Fire Safety/Fire Prevention.

 

Certification:

Upon completing the course, participants will receive Sheila O’Driscoll Safety Training Certificates in “Fire Safety”.
