First Aid Response

Industry Approved Course

Course Overview:

The course is designed for individuals who want to learn how to recognise and provide care for people with life-threatening injuries before healthcare practitioners arrive. It is also suitable for those who need basic first aid training for their jobs, such as non-healthcare personnel, sports coaches, teachers, and parents, among others.

 

Upon completing this 3-day course, the First Aid Responder will have the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide adequate life support, recognise and treat injuries or illness, and maintain the care and comfort of a suddenly ill or injured patient in the workplace or elsewhere until emergency medical services arrive. The training also includes the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the administration of aspirin for suspected heart attack cases.

 

Course Objectives:

Upon successful completion, students will have acquired the essential skills and knowledge to:

•             Respond to life-threatening or potentially life-threatening situations until emergency medical services arrive.

•             Respond appropriately to conditions that are not perceivedas life-threatening but require immediate action to prevent further harm before the arrival of emergency medical services.

•             Provide first aid in various settings including workplaces, homes and recreational environments.

•             Demonstrate the necessary personal qualities such as composure, competence and self-confidence while acknowledging their limitations.

 

Training Methods & Duration:

•             This course includes theoretical and practical learning to ensure student participation and feedback as part of developing a solid foundation of practical skills.

•             Educational DVDs will be utilised to aid course comprehension.

The course is facilitated by a qualified instructor using a variety of techniques, such as practical exercises, lectures, demonstrations, and group discussions.

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for employees across all industries and sectors, as well as self-employed individuals who seek to enhance their knowledge and skills in pre-hospital care.

 

 

Assessment & Certification:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be issued with a certificate valid for 2 years.

To maintain continuous certification, completion of a refresher course is required after the two-year period has elapsed.

The two-day training is designed as are fresher of the knowledge you gained during the initial course. You must have a valid First Aid Responder certificate to take the refresher course.

On successful completion of your chosen course you with a certificate ETMS will provide you with Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council Certificate.
